Cycling 5000 km, from Banff in Canada to the US-Mexican border, raising money for MS research.
This morning started with a surprise. I just started the ascent from Elk Creek campground to Lower Lagunitas, when a young man who called; “Are you Koen by any chance” caught me up. This young man was Daniel from Oxford in the UK. He was also cycling the GDMBR and his father followed my website (mostly the GPS tracker). And he thought it would be nice if Daniel and I met each other along the way. Well now it happened. We chatted for a while on the side of the road and then we both had to move on. He was way faster than me, so I lost him out of sight in no time. Daniel is doing his ride as a fundraiser for OXFAM. A little bit further along the way I came across another narrow-gauge steam train in action. Including steam-clouds and whistles! Meanwhile, I can barely comprehend, I arrived at the New Mexico border… The last state of my HELP-ME-HELP-MS bicycle challenge! I have to hold on for a little while longer and than my mission will be completed. A surreal feeling. A little while later I’m startled from my thoughts by Marga & Jos who come racing round the bend on their beautiful new fatbikes!
