Cuba > designated Hunters’ camp

After Cuba you go into the driest part of New Mexico for a couple of days. So I have to take extra water and provisions. The annoying thing is, that because of the extra weight it becomes even more difficult to move your bike forwards, especially going up against the mountains. And it seems there going to be plenty of those the coming days, no more of the 12.000 foot category, but a lot of smaller steep hills and dried up riverbeds or arroyos. When it rains, this area immediately becomes inaccessible. No 4x4 or cyclist can get through. Everything gets hopelessly stuck in the clay ground. The sky seems threatening and a few drops of rain fall from the sky. But thankfully that was it. The landscape is unimaginable beautiful. It reminds of the first westerns. But that’s way before your time of course… At hunters camp I’m totally by myself enjoying the sounds of the night all around me.
